A DAY WITH THERESA MAY
On Friday 12th October, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Maidenhead were delighted to welcome the Prime Minister, Theresa May to their Special celebration assembly for their 6th Green Flag Award for being a sustainable school. Alan Patient and Co were very honoured to have been invited to share this special occasion with them
The morning assembly welcomed on stage a representative from the Eco-Schools programme. This programme is an ideal way for schools to embark on a meaningful path towards improving the environment in both the school and the local community while at the same time having a life-long positive impact on the lives of young people and their families. The Eco-Schools Green Flag is an internationally recognised award for excellence in environmental action and learning.
The children were so well behaved and could not wait to lead us out to their newly grown Eco friendly garden. The Prime Minister herself unlocked the gate by counting down from 10 and as soon as the gate opened there was a loud cheer from all the children and teachers and governors involved. Looking around the garden, there were chickens laying fresh eggs, planted vegetables fresh flower beads, which all had been planted and tended by the school children.
After the children pointed out all the new shrubs and vegetables in the garden, we all began to walk around the side of the school for the Green Flag presentation. The pole was surrounded by all involved at the school including visitors and caretakers whilst the Prime Minister herself made the most wonderful speech and at he same time Theresa May pulled on the rope for the Green flag to be held high over the school for the 6th year running.
Finally, Alan Patient & Co would like to say to say thank you to St Mary’s School and how pleased to be part of this amazing morning and to see how hard all those involved with the school had worked so hard to keep their Green Flag flying for the 6th year.
